After complaining that the World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency and Logistics Hub was being constructed without the permission of the Universities Council, Paul Wainaina, the Kenyatta University (KU) Vice-Chancellor, has been sacked.
Prof Wainaina was speaking to the KU students and staff and said it might be the last time addressing them. Other than the sacking of Prof Wainaina, the University Council was also disbanded, and a new council was installed.

This came after the University opposed plans to construct the WHO hub. The Ksh600 million emergency hub was to be built through a partnership with the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital.
President Kenyatta, in an event attended by WHO Director-General Dr.Tedros Ghebreyesus, said that he would deal with the issue at hand and make sure that the issue is sorted before his tenure as the President ends.

Prof Wainaina speaking to the KU fraternity said that he had received a letter from the Head Of Public Service which addressed the land issue and how the disputed land will be used in the WHO project.
Conclusion

During the ground-breaking event, President Kenyatta said that Prof Wainaina and the KU Council were opposing a project that would help Kenyans and the region; therefore, they should swiftly release the title deed.
